Bar Exam
Story
This one gave me a LOT of trouble. Redoing the bar stools, thinking up questions and answers small enough to fit, trying to recreate a tap! But bar exams are supposed to be difficult, right?

Haz Bin
9" x 12"
Story
I came up with the idea for this one while sitting in the examination room, waiting for my annual physical exam. I had been staring absent-mindedly at the hazardous waste bin and my mind suddenly jumped from 'haz bin' to 'has been.'
PanTree
Story
Pantries are my favorite room to organize. To be honest, I spend an embarrassing amount of time organizing stuff. Drawers, closets, glove compartments, shelves- you name it and I've organized it, many times over. But pantries hold a special place in my (overly organized) heart because they hold food and equipment to make more food. Heavenly places.

Fifty-one Shades of Grey
Story
Inspired by the book that was everywhere for weeks and weeks. I never read it- I got all I needed from the title- but, of course, I had to one-up the name. I promise all 51 shades are there.

Sheep Thrills
5" x 7"
Story
While I was working on Cowch, I was thinking about other animals and how their names might resemble other words. Once I hit on 'sheep' and 'cheap,' several ideas came to me. Sheep Thrills is the fruition of one of those ideas. Stayed tuned for more!
Cowch
9" x 12"
Story
How on earth I got from 'couch' to 'cowch' I will never be able to recall but, once I did, I stopped what I had been working on and started Cowch immediately. Still makes me smile.
Bureau of Investigation
Story
The thought to use 'bureau' in a Roomination came to me shortly after I finished "Cross Dresser" and I was running through the names of other furniture, looking for inspiration. Once I landed on 'bureau,' it became a matter of deciding which Bureau and, since my husband and I had been watching the Sherlock Holmes series on tv, it didn't take me long to come up with the Bureau of Investigation. I had a lot of fun thinking of what to put in it!

Light My Little Fire
4" x 6.5"
Story
I created this little one as an entry for a miniature art exhibit. It was rejected because the judge determined it to be 'craft' not 'art.' Oh well!
Snapped G-String
Story
I was hanging out with my brother Jim at my sister's house and he was wandering around, looking for things to fix, as he is wont to do. Since he makes guitars, banjos and mandolins, he picked up our brother-in-law's guitar to check it out and noticed that a string had snapped. I remembered having passed a guitar store nearby, so we drove over to pick up a new string, and by the time we had returned, a new Roomination was forming in my mind.

Casting Couch
9" x 12"
Story
I had never heard the term 'Casting Couch.' My sister used it one day and I said 'a what?!' She was surprised I had never heard it before and amused when I showed her my interpretation of the phrase.
Story
I actually started Time Flies before I had a name for it. I had a scrap of material that I thought would make a perfect Roomination couch. I don't find tiny patterns often, so I was very excited about this little cutie. I finished the couch and, when I decided to add a clock, I thought to put a tiny fly on it, since it was fly season and they seemed to be everywhere. Once I thought 'Time Flies,' I knew I had my theme.

Shelf-Medicated
9" x 12"
Story
Designing a woozy shelf was just about the most fun a Roomination could be for me. Of course it was a bit frustrating that everything I tried to put on the shelf kept sliding off, but really, wasn't that the whole point? (or so I kept reminding myself.)
Shelf-Centered
Story
Sometime during my creation of "Shelf-Help" and "Shelf-Medicated," I thought of "Shelf-Centered" and had to stop everything to make it. I just love that wall color.

Shelf-Help
Story
At some point, I linked the words 'shelf' and 'self' in my mind, and then could barely stem the flow of Roomination ideas. I finally had to restrain myself and narrow my focus on two favorites- Shelf-Help and Shelf-Medicated, both of which I find ab-solute-ly hilarious.
I had such a good time coming up the details here, particularly the book titles hidden throughout the piece and the tools to 'help' the shelves.
