Take a second look at this bed, it might be missing a pickle but it’s the kind of thing that spices up a room. This creative bedroom furniture is the kind of thing that turns a nice room into a fun room.
Other low cost decorating ideas for children’s rooms include:
· Find fabrics of different colors in the remnants department.
· Broadloom rugs will keep the noise down and their feet comfy.
· Kids’ artwork is homey and a boost to the ego, especially if it is laminated and framed.
· Storage is what you make it, and stickers, art scraps, and picture holders can turn a chest into a weekly interactive plaything.
Most people complain when their TV has too much green, but we are living in a time when green is in. Not green on screen, mind you, but green as in eco-friendly which is what LG Electronics has introduced in its “Life’s Good When it’s Green Initiative.”
Launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, LG’s Life’s Good When it’s Green features its new line of HDTVs that have achieved the new Energy Star 3.0 rating. This includes for the first time the Energy Star measurement of televisions for active power consumption. Energy Star is an independent program from the US Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy. Those products that have the Energy Star logo meet the program’s criteria for energy efficiency or environmental compatibility. These energy and environmental criteria are for products and buildings.
LG’s new “Green HDTVs” include the following as reported by Weblaunches:
“* Energy Star 3.0 – LG’s 2009 HDTVs are designed to achieve the new Energy Star 3.0 rating and incorporate energy saving features. The new Energy Star ratings measure active power consumption for the first time. As a participant in the voluntary Energy Star program, LG’s 2009 HDTVs will be up to 30 percent more efficient than non-qualified models.
“* Smart Energy Savings – LG’s 2009 HDTVs feature capabilities such as Intelligent Sensor, “video mute,” ISFccc and new backlight control systems for added energy saving options.
“* LG Electronics Recycling Program – LG Electronics has teamed up with Waste Management Inc. to collect, transport and recycle consumer electronics products for the national LG Electronics Recycling Program. The LG Electronics Recycling Program provides consumers with a free and convenient way of recycling their used, unwanted, obsolete or damaged LG consumer electronic products by dropping them off at a designated Waste Management eCycling Center, available in all 50 states.”
You can also see if your favorite TV model meets the Energy Star criteria by using this list and search function on the Energy Star website.
The Super Bowl is over, so maybe I’ll wait till next year to get a big screen HDTV. Yeah right. With prices as low as they are for incredible performance and value brands, it’s hard not to be attracted to the buys, even in a down economy.
One of the great entertainment features of upgrading to 1080 HDTV is Blu-ray. When I got mine in the basement, and the kids watched “Night at the Museum,” it was a blast. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are pretty funny guys. Blu-Ray on 40” 1080p LCD HDTV screen is light years beyond my old 27” tube set.
Sony is aggressively promoting Blu-ray with coupon discounts on its Blu-ray movies and even players . Check weekend supplements. You may find coupons there as well.

If that wasn’t enough, cost conscious movie lovers (me) who think Redbox is a great deal (me again at $1/day for movies) should be thrilled to see Blu-ray movies populating their local Redbox kiosk. They are not everywhere so be on the look out.
It wouldn’t hurt to let Redbox know where you rent by sending a question or comment to com
questions@redbox.com – nothing like a little customer feedback to light a fire under someone’s chair.
So are you becoming a Blu-ray snob by looking first for movies in Blu-ray then at the titles? I’ll admit, I am, it’s that good.
Now before you go thinking this blog post is rated R, let’s set the record straight. Most people will think the headline is an oxymoron, that sexy and appliances don’t go together, but here are a couple of images that turns that notion on its head.
The right design and planning can turn a dishwasher or oven into a work of art and beautifully integrate into your kitchen. The dishdrawers from Fisher & Paykel insure that users don’t need to bend to load or retrieve kitchenware.

Sure, style is associated with higher priced appliances like the ones from this Cool as Ice blog post from Trends in Home Appliances, but more traditional brand names are also taking on the styles consumers want.
Amana for example is completely rededicated their brand to focusing on style. In a recent post, they featured on Style File, you’ll be surprised to see a striped refrigerator. It’s a throw back to 70s fashion with a 21st Century fa

mily’s food storage needs in mind.
The start of the year is a great time to get terrific buys on appliances. Have fun shopping around
with an eye toward design. You don’t need to remodel your kitchen to get a new look. One step at a time works, especially when you are watching dollars and sense. Fashion sense that is.
Here are a few more resources for stylish appliances and good deals.
